Bleaching (English)

Post-Whitening Instructions

  1. Color stabilization usually occurs within 2 weeks after chairside bleaching and home bleaching.  Results vary per individual.
  2. Mild gum or tooth sensitivity may occur with some patients.  This will usually diminish within 24 to 48 hours after discontinuing treatment.
  3. If you encounter any problems with sensitivity and/or gum irritation, discontinue product use immediately and call our office at 520.624.7514.  After hours, call 877.692.5601.
  4. Depending on your lifestyle and the manner in which you maintain your newly whitened teeth, results may last several years.  Keep in mind that certain foods, smoking habits, and medications will always have an effect on your teeth and their color.
  5. To decrease sensitivity of teeth after whitening procedures, avoid citrus fruits and juices until treatment is completed. Teeth will stay whitest when you restrict consumption of coffee, tea, red wine, cola, soy sauce, tomato based foods (ketchup, spaghetti sauce, salsa, etc.), beta-carotene foods (carrots, beets, etc.) and all tobacco products to prolong the whitening results. This is especially critical during the first 2 weeks of treatment. If necessary, consume beverages through a straw and try to clean teeth as soon as possible to keep stain from penetrating the teeth.
  6. Do not wear trays overnight!  A maximum of 30 minutes use is our recommended treatment time for bleaching.
  7. Touch-up bleaching may be needed in a year or so to keep your lightened color.
  8. Please feel free to call our office at 520.624.7514 if you have any questions.
  9. Enjoy your newer and brighter smile!
